Standard vs Destructive system recovery?
Hi, my computer has a problem in which I cannot access normal mode at all and could only use safe mode. I’ve contacted HP and they told me to do a system recovery. My question is this: Should I do a standard or destructive system recovery in such a case? What is the difference? Thank you!
I would do a standard restore, a factory reset is only used if the Operating System does not respond in major errors.
System Restore is a snapshot of your system at the time when the Restore Point was made. So when you use a Restore Point your system is put back to how it was at that time. Take the date September 18th is how far I want to restore to. Any programs which have been installed since the Restore Point (Sept 18) will be lost and any uninstalled since Sept 18 will be back. All changes since Sept 18 will be undone/lost.
That is how System Restore works. E.g. if you installed a program/driver which mucked up your system, doing a System Restore will “undo” that installation and fix the problem for you
Have a nice day
