Developing Photo Thermometer

Developing Photo Thermometer
Would a kitchen thermometer work as a darkroom thermometer?

I’m developing film tomorrow in class and i forget to get a darkroom thermometer and all the photo stores are closed, would a kitchen one work, granted i don’t use it for food ever again?
Yep, it’s for B&W.

You will probably find that it’s not precise enough and is calibrated over too high a temperature range. Cooking takes place over a range of 100-250F and a degree of inaccuracy of + or – 10F is not critical. Cooking thermometers will reflect this. B&W processing takes place at 68F precisely and a temperature error of + or – 1F is critical for film. For paper, there is a bit more leeway because you’re developing by inspection rather than time/temperature, but even so using a cooking thermometer is a bit too much like using a breadknife for brain surgery.
